Thesis: The Vietnam War was a turning point in history
The Vietnam War was a turning point in world history because the Vietnam War was the first war in which defoliants were used as a major weapon, causing mass destruction of forests and crops; the Vietnam War was the first war opposed by the majority of America, which in turn caused many protests and peace demonstrations; and the United States withdrew their troops in the final years of the war, which caused South Vietnam to lose the war, which in turn drastically changed the lives of people living in Southeast Asia.
